GEO for pet brands: be the brand AI assistants name when owners ask what to feed their pet
Pet owners ask an assistant before they open a search box: what food suits a cat with a sensitive stomach, whether grain-free is actually better, which litter clumps without dust. The answer names two or three brands and cites a handful of pages. This page is the loop that puts your brand in that answer: mine the questions, measure which brands and pages each engine cites, read the pages that win, publish, and measure again. 35 tools serve the data half, each priced per call and listed with its price below; your agent runs the loop and writes the brief.
Billed per call, for what you use. No card required.

What is the best way to ask 鹦鹉AI?
1 · Set your agent up, once
set up 鹦鹉AI — https://parrot.amorist.cn/llms.txt
2 · Then ask for the job
Using 鹦鹉AI, run a GEO audit for our cat-food brand. Build 30 questions Chinese pet owners actually ask about sensitive stomachs and switching food, with AI-search volume for each. Ask ChatGPT, Doubao and Perplexity those questions and record which brands are named and which pages are cited. Then search Xiaohongshu and Douyin for the same questions to see what owners say in their own words. Give me one gap table: the questions where we are missing, the domains and pages cited instead, five article briefs, and the total cost of the run.
Why this prompt works
Questions, not keywords
An owner typing into an assistant writes a whole question. Keyword tools hand back fragments; build the prompt set from questions, then measure it.
Three engines, three answers
Doubao covers Chinese owners, ChatGPT and Perplexity cover English and cross-border questions, and Google's AI Overview covers search. A brand can lead in one and be absent from another.
The cited page is the lever
The answer is the surface; the page behind the citation is what you can change. Knowing which page wins tells you whether to write, pitch or update.
Price the run before it starts
Thirty questions on three engines is 90 paid answers before you touch the content. The agent quotes the total first.

The detail
What actually differs
The question set is the asset, and mining it is not mysterious: seed it from keyword tools and AI-search volume, collect the owner's own phrasing from Xiaohongshu, Douyin, reviews and AI answers, then have the agent cluster it by intent (symptom, ingredient, comparison, price).
Cover life stage (puppy, adult, senior), problem (sensitive stomach, tear stains, hairballs, joints), ingredient (grain-free, chicken-free, raw) and comparison (brand A versus brand B, price per kilo). Breadth beats polish — one question per scenario shows the pattern better than ten refined prompts. Keep the set fixed for a quarter; changing it resets the baseline.
Mentions and citations are different numbers.
A mention is your brand appearing in the prose; a citation is a link to your page. Mentions move with reputation and reviews; citations move when a specific page earns them. Track both, because a brand is often named from a roundup it does not own.
The Chinese and English shelves differ.
Doubao, Xiaohongshu and Douyin carry the questions Chinese owners ask; ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overview carry English and cross-border queries. The same product needs different evidence on each shelf: notes and short videos on one, ingredient tables and vet-reviewed pages on the other.
Close the loop or it is just a report.
The useful output is a brief: the question, the pages cited today, what they answer, what they miss, and the asset you need (an ingredient table, a feeding guide, a vet Q&A). Publish, run the same question set again, and read the new and lost citations.
Background
What is GEO for a pet brand?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of getting a brand named, and its pages cited, in answers generated by AI assistants and AI-augmented search. Pet questions are unusually specific and unusually high-stakes: life stage, breed size, protein allergy, kibble versus wet, litter dust, supplement safety. Owners ask them in full sentences, the answer compares two or three brands, and many readers check the citation before they trust it. The measurable half is mechanical: a fixed question set, run on a schedule against each engine, counting mentions and citations. The editorial half is not: whether the page you publish answers the question better than the page cited today.
The detail
Where it goes wrong
One run is not a trend
Generated answers are samples. The same question on the same day can name different brands. Run it twice before reading anything into the number; the aggregates are what move slowly.
Visibility is not demand
Being named in an answer measures shelf position, not sales. Pair it with review language and search volume before you decide what to make.
Publishing without a re-run
The loop closes on new and lost citations. Skip the second run and you never learn whether your page was the reason, or the engine simply changed its sources.
Questions
Before you start
How is this different from SEO?
SEO optimizes for a ranked list of links; GEO optimizes for a generated answer that names a few brands and cites a few pages. The overlap is real — crawlable pages, clear facts, citations — but the unit of measurement is different: share of answers and citations, not position.
Do you guarantee we get recommended?
No, and nobody can. The engines change answers and sources without notice. The tools make the loop cheap and repeatable: whether you are named today, which page is cited instead, and whether last month's content changed anything.
Where does the data come from?
Live answers from ChatGPT, Doubao and Perplexity; Google's AI Overview; keyword ideas and AI-search volume; and posts from Xiaohongshu and Douyin. Every call is billed per use — no subscription, no per-seat fee.
What does one run cost?
It depends on the question set and the engines. The page shows the live cheapest call; 30 questions on three engines is 90 answers, plus the social and keyword calls. The agent converts that to credits at this deployment's rate and tells you before it starts.
Can it write the content too?
Yes, but the data is the half you cannot improvise. The agent writes from the gap table: the questions you are missing, the pages being cited, the owner's own language from reviews and comments. What the brand can claim — ingredients, vet review, test results — is still your call, because that is what an engine can check.
Does this work outside pet food?
The loop is the same. Food and supplements lean on ingredient and safety questions; litter and supplies on comparison and value; grooming, boarding and clinics on local and trust questions, where the cited pages are maps, reviews and directories rather than articles.
